For me this is a special race, an important part of the F1 season and the glitz and glam of F1. The Monaco Grand Prix is full of charm, history and as well as being a technically challenging circuit.

Monaco GP : Could McLaren and Button be competitive?

Could McLaren actually have a result – Monaco will suit the Car.

BIG QUESTION IS: Has he actually got anything to loose anyway, and does this make him dangerous to the second seat?

Steve Camp You mentioned a vacant seat, contractually he is meant to be in the car next season should he want it. But can he get anything out of this weekend? It’ll be a tough ask to get points with the likes of Williams, Haas, Renault and Force India in much better shape.

Jenson Button will return to F1 to do a one-off race weekend for McLaren Honda at the 2017 Monaco Grand Prix, standing in for Fernando Alonso who is set to race in the Indy 500 the same weekend.

Recently, McLaren initiated the first phase of their car updates at the Spanish GP which improved the car, enabling Fernando Alonso to qualify P7.

With the second phase of updates coming this weekend at Monaco, Jenson Button has termed it a “massive step forward” and hopes that his one-off return to F1 will be a successful one.
